Astral Balance는 우주 정거장을 배경으로 한 2인용 밀리 맵으로, 대칭 구조 속에 미묘한 변수를 숨겨 놓은 설계가 인상적이다. 중앙 지역은 넓은 교전장이 펼쳐지며, 그 주변을 고지대와 좁은 진입로가 감싸고 있어 시야 확보와 병력 배치가 승패를 결정짓는다. 본진은 비교적 안정적인 자원 배치를 갖추고 있지만, 앞마당 확장 지역은 중앙 견제에 노출되기 쉬워 초반부터 신경전이 치열하게 전개된다. 맵 곳곳에는 우주 타일셋 특유의 중성 건물과 장식물이 배치되어 있어, 단순한 장식 이상으로 유닛 이동 경로를 미묘하게 방해하거나 시야를 차단하는 역할을 한다. 이 때문에 대규모 교전보다는 소수 유닛을 활용한 국지전과 기동성 싸움이 자주 발생하며, 정찰과 위치 선정의 중요성이 더욱 부각된다. 앞마당 이후 확장은 멀티 입구가 여러 방향으로 노출되어 있어 방어 부담이 크지만, 이를 성공적으로 확보할 경우 중앙을 압박할 수 있는 이점을 준다. 상대의 빌드와 병력 구성을 빠르게 파악하고, 제한된 자원을 어디에 투자할지 판단하는 능력이 승패를 좌우한다. 초보자보다는 기본기와 멀티태스킹에 익숙한 플레이어에게 적합하며, 특히 저그 대 테란처럼 기동성과 지형 활용이 중요한 매치업에서 맵의 개성이 잘 드러난다. 플레이 전에는 앞마당과 중앙을 잇는 좁은 통로의 안전성, 그리고 확장 기지의 취약한 각을 미리 확인해 두는 것이 좋다. Astral Balance is a two-player melee map set on a space platform, distinguished by its symmetrical layout that hides subtle imbalances. The central area forms a wide battleground surrounded by elevated terrain and narrow access points, making vision control and choke point management decisive factors. The main base offers a relatively stable resource arrangement, but the natural expansion is exposed to early harassment from the center, leading to intense early-game tension. Throughout the map, the space tileset’s neutral structures and decorations subtly alter unit pathing and block sight lines, so the flow of battle leans toward small-unit skirmishes and positional warfare rather than large-scale clashes. Expanding beyond the natural presents narrow, multi-angled entrances that are difficult to defend, yet securing them grants a powerful vantage point to pressure the center. Success depends on quickly reading the opponent’s build order and allocating limited resources wisely. The map is better suited to players with solid fundamentals and multitasking ability, and it truly shines in matchups like Zerg versus Terran where mobility and terrain use are critical. Before playing, it is helpful to check the safety of the narrow corridors linking the main bases to the center and the vulnerability of the expansion positions.
