Starship Troopers is a unique survival-genre custom map for Starcraft Brood War, created under a science-fiction worldview inspired by the famous movie of the same name. Set against a vast wasteland tileset background, the map features a structure where Terran players must withstand the relentless onslaught of Zerg forces to survive. As indicated in the internal map description, the Zerg side continuously attacks to annihilate opponents, while the Terran side must strictly endure using given defensive lines and units, presenting an asymmetric battle aspect. Designed with a focus on the fun of multiple players cooperating to block massive offensives, it delivers a tension completely different from standard melee games. Looking at the overall structure of the map, it shows a typical defense-and-survival format where a base-like terrain is built for Terran players to defend easily, with Zerg forces rushing in from the surrounding wide outdoor areas.
